Yan Wang “Angie” was born in 1986 in P. R. China. She is a doctoral student in College of Educational Studies, Chapman University, with an emphasis on Culture and Curriculum Studies. Yan is a member of Paulo Freire Democratic Project at Chapman University, and a member of the Center for Critical Pedagogy Research at Northeast Normal University, Chang Chun, China.  She has been practicing martial arts for over 2 years and she is absolutely passionate about it. Yan’s current research interest is incorporating improvisation and other forms of theatrical practices into academic classroom at higher education level.
